Couples maintaining long-distance relationships or navigating busy lives had no dedicated space that felt truly private and purpose-built for two people. General messaging apps felt impersonal; existing relationship apps were gimmicky, poorly designed or publicly oriented. Partners needed a beautiful, private companion app that made staying connected feel intentional.

Conducted 50 in-depth interviews with couples across long-distance, married and dating relationships to understand the emotional jobs-to-be-done — what connection felt like when missing and what a digital companion should actually do.
Built an end-to-end encrypted shared space where only two verified partners can access messages, photos and memories — no server-side plaintext, no social graph, no advertising data collection. Privacy is the product.
Designed a smart anniversary system with home-screen countdown widgets, customisable milestone dates, auto-generated celebration prompts and push reminders — making the app feel alive and aware of the couple's unique timeline.
Implemented a background location sharing system using adaptive polling intervals — frequent when both partners are moving, sparse when stationary — delivering real-time awareness without draining battery by the afternoon.
